Ever since working on my other Mercedes Benz concepts, I've been working on this one in the background. One where the aesthetic of the vehicle is literally derived from the 3 pointed star of the MB emblem. What you see here is a future formula 1 type race car, where the backbone architecture of the vehicle grows from the the planes described by the points of the star logo. Asymmetrical driver position. This concept incorporates all that I love about Formula 1 cars. A muscular chassis, bold apperance and a lot of features that cater to my personal taste. The concept incorporates parts of the 2007/08 cars aesthetics while its proportions are oriented along the lines of the cars from 2017 onwards. The cars front is slightly exaggerated to pull visual focus towards the bulky forms. Wings and winglets across the chassis have a modern, almost futuristic, form-language.
The concept itself was spatially sketched with Blenders amazing Grease-Pencil. The modeling was also done in Blender “atop” the sketch.
All in all a joyful experience to create my first F1 freeform concept.
