Powstanie Warszawskie rozpoczęło się 1 sierpnia 1944 roku w Warszawie i było największym zrywem niepodległościowym podczas II wojny światowej. Było częścią większej operacji militarnej Armii Krajowej o kryptonimie „Burza”. Wybuch powstania oficjalnie zaplanowano na godzinę 17:00, którą określono, jako godzinę „W”. Powstańcy nie mieli też jednolitych mundurów. Walczyli w ubraniach cywilnych lub
