This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects Iāve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt werenāt my best.
I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born!
Now for this scene, I did something I donāt often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldnāt get anything that looked āgrassā you know?
I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future. This was my first assignment when I started to work for Orbital Knight. I was responsible for modeling, texturing and animating. Character costume concept by Åukasz JuÅczyk.
I had immense fun working on his animations. Also I’m quite proud of solution I made for the drone’s rotor motion blur (which had to be cheated without post effects and alpha texture).
