Did a scan of one of our company shirts for a quick project. This is the first time I’ve combined two sides of a soft-body scan - cloth tends to be somewhat floppy. To flip the shirt without messing up the fold pattern, I made a sort of cardboard sandwich I could press together. I also overexposed the shots to improve the scan.
The cleanup wasn’t too bad. Even after deleting points from the platforms from the dense cloud they still made their way into the mesh a little. Ended up taking those out in Max, then smoothing things over in ZBrush. I also used ZBrush for the decimation and unwrap, and was really happy about the results. I like Max’s peel feature, but UV Master in ZBrush goes so much faster and gets rid of all the overlaps even if the result is bent a little.
I also still need to find a faster way to patch up seams. There was one towards the “south” side of the shirt that I had to a 2nd channel unwrap -> bake -> photoshop -> bake to ch1 -> mask into texture approach. This is a Model of the original XBOX 360 released on November 22nd 2005 and does not contain the installable hard drive at the top of the console.
This model was created in Blender and textured in Substance Painter. I first created a high poly model of the Xbox adding in the circular vents into the mesh. I then moved to making the low poly version removing unnessesary vertices so the details can be baked later. I kept the indets of the power button, disk drive and back sockets as they were far too promminant to be baked to an effective and visual standard.
