A high-poly Zbrush model ready for 3d printing The model depicts a British cavalry officer during a cavalry charge in WW1. During the first world war cavalry tactics changed with an emphasis on dismounted firepower and covering fire from the flanks, using machine guns and attached artillery to support cavalry charges. The download for this model includes the textured fbx file displayed here and an stl file ready for 3d printing - see images below. The stl file is based on a high-poly version of the model decimated for printing. I have hollowed out the model and thickened some of the very thin parts to help with printing.

This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects I’ve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt weren’t my best.
I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born!
Now for this scene, I did something I don’t often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldn’t get anything that looked “grass” you know?
I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future. I remember as a kid staring at maps and fiddling with hourglasses watching the sand dribble down to each side.
