Based on Maeve Broadbin's Concept! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/6yZox Tried out a new workflow with this piece, which is starting off with a base mesh in Zbrush, sculpt all details, bake the Diffuse and AO in Substance Painter, add Color Gradients to the Diffuse and use that as a base for my Handpainted texture! I learned a lot in the process in regards to zBrush and polishing my Handpainted skills when its about metal and cloth. But I also realised that I end up changing things up a lot in the final stage, which means I still rely a lot on my handpainting! This is a diorama created from one of Jenny Brozek’s concepts ‘The Gate’ found on Artstation. I really loved the concept when I saw it and was desperate to make it in 3D. It was a really nice project to sink time and effort into and I learnt a lot throughout the process. I created the model in Maya, Textured in Substance Painter to get the basic textures and colours down before taking the maps into Photoshop to start the painting process. I appreciate Jenny for letting me make her awesome concept come alive in 3D and I hope you guys like it too :).

This building was a solitary cell/torture chamber in Mweru detention camp in Nyeri, Kenya. ‘Hardcore’ detainees would be kept here in solitary confinement seperated from the rest of detainees for extended periods of time. Here they would be tortured, beaten and denied essentials such as food and water. After independece, the camp was later converted to a secondary school and goes by the name Mweru High School today.
The building shown in this 3D reconstruction still stands within the school grounds today and is used as a store. A sign attached to the building reads, ” Mau Mau Torture Room, they hated the injustice, they took the oath and went to the forest. They were detained, harassed and tortured, they died for our FREEDOM”

In the eastern part of the mansion to the left there is a guest room, the blue bedchamber, furnished and decorated in Gustavian style. The wall covering, an oil-painted tapestry from the 1790s, is a simplified variant of the wallpaper in the atrium on the other side of the hall. The bed with Sina hangings of mosquito nets, the dressing table covered with white cotton cloth, the veneered desk and the seating furniture signed by Stockholm chairmaker Erik Ohrmark are all good representatives of the Gustavian style. Per Hilleström’s oil painting, dated 1775, gives an idea of how the ladies of the time were dressed. The blade-decorated tile stove originates from a Stockholm house.
