Why no billboard textures?: My models use meshes for individual leaves and parts. Typically a billboard texture will be used to reduce poly count in leaf clusters. However, my models are not intended for games/VR but for closeups in raytracing such as Blender Cycles. This project was heavily inspired by the Hermannshof Botanical Garden in Germany, where I used to stroll and read under the beautiful wisteria trees for hours as a child. I wanted to recreate that magical little space for myself with this project :)
Learned a lot from my first 2.5D model - will update this project later following Ashleigh’s feedback.
