An entry for the 3D Editor Challenge
Based on “Littlest Tokyo” by glenatron, licensed under CC Attribution-ShareAlike.
This time I wanted to simply enhance the stylised look with some complimentry lighting, and a nice vibrant sunsent seemed to work a treat!
Beyond the basic light setup, I added a background to match my colour scheme and a shadowcatcher to grab those long end of day shadows. The statue was cast in Paris by F. Barbedienne, from an original stone sculpture by Marcel Bourbier. The piece was part of the French pavillion during the World Fair of 1930 in Antwerp, and was later gifted to the city of Antwerp by the city of Paris. Since I was a kid I always dreamed of being an astronaut and I read a lot of books about space.
For this challenge I teamed up with my girlfriend, who is a professional childern’s book illustrator, to recreate my desire to touch the stars.
With this entry we wanted to pay homage to all the authors and illustrators that make all the childrens dream big with their books.
All the modelling was based on her illustration, created on Maya and then hand painted on Substance Painter by me.

This is the last project I’ve made using Cinema 4D. Now, I’m more into Blender, but since I had started the project on this soft, I preferred finishing it that way.
