3D scan of a dodo skeleton. This specimen probably was put together from the remains of several birds. There is no complete dodo skeleton left, nevertheless the NHM Vienna owns one of the most complete skeletons. Dodos lived exclusively on the islands of Mauritius and Reunion. The last dodo probably went extinct about 1690. The dodo is Number 80 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 31 of the NHM Vienna. This is a bit of an experiment and still a work in progress. The Smithsonian has a mammoth skeleton for download, http://3d.si.edu/downloads/55 .
Mammoths are, of course, relatives of African elephants. But they are more comparable with Indian elephants.
Making a skeleton is a a lot of work and I wanted to see if I would be able to take an educated guess and turn the mammoth skeleton into an African (bush) elephant skeleton.
I am still going to ask people who know to review it, but for now here it is. I will probably use this slot to upload the updated versions.
