Years ago, a couple got a sweet piece of land and built a japanese style house. Over time, they added two smaller sheds on their property, used to practice their hobbies. The woman loved to brew and drink tea and the man loved gardening. As time went by.. they grew old together. They had children, and eventually grandchildren. Sadly, the man's time came earlier. After he left, grandma did not know what to do, while her deceased husband's flowers began to wither. She didn't have a green thumb, like her significant other. Grandma got a bit superstitious when suddely, a beautiful flower grew next to the shed. She believed that it was her husband, who wanders around the place, wanting to accompany her even after his death. She decided to transform the gardening shed into a worshipping house, together with her family. Grandma came to the shed daily to talk to him. After some time, more and more flowers began to bloom. This is a fan art diorama I did for studding purposes. I’ve been working on this during my little free time for the past 2-3 months and learnt a lot in the process.
I’ve always loved how Nintendo can make some of the best art out there with so little. Modeling and texturing the characters (Pikmin and Alph) was a really really great study!! The other objects on the scene were also really fun to do and helped me to better understand how PBR materials work!
I modeled and textured the Pikmin based on images on the internet only, but for Alph I had to use the original model of the game as reference. No parts of the original model or textures were used on my own model, but without the 3D reference for topology and textures, in the lack of a “blueprint”, I wouldn’t be able to make it look as identical.
Everything was modeled in Blender and textured in Photoshop, the Normal and AO maps were all baked in Blender, as well.

This character was very difficult to translate into 3D! Her pear-shaped face and the side mouth were truly challenging, especially the retopology 😳, but as always, I enjoyed doing it so much!!❤️
