The Newton portable computer came out of the first results of Apple’s work on a miniature mobile device with a touchscreen and operated with a stylus. The design offered a range of breakthrough solutions, one of them being the handwriting recognition system. The computer’s design used a high performance, energy efficient CPU of the ARM family, which later became standard in this type of device and is still used in tablets and smartphones. The Newton’s main purpose was time management and performing simple office tasks. The content of its built-in memory could be synchronised with computers using the Windows or MacOS operating systems over a serial interface. A wireless connection was also available in the form of an infrared port. An additional extension card allowed the Newton to be connected to the telephone network in order to send and receive faxes or use basic Internet functionalities. This is a tribute to the creative team behind the now classic 80s sci-fi film Robocop (1987), in a playful cartoony style. Models and rigging done in September 2015, finally added proper looping animation & enhanced the textures in July 2017. Robocop’s nemesis ED209 is doing a ta-da remembering it’s staircase misadventure from the movie. For Murphy, I made him drawing his Auto-9 pistol and takes aim, but does his classic gun spin and holster without firing. 7 years ago, I scanned this Nanotyrannus : https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/nanotyrannus-lancensis-young-t-rex-7b0967fa27674d959647868686b6717b . However, the model was far from perfect. I figured I would scan it again for the Agisoft Nature Challenge. This time, I managed to create a watertight model that should be 3D printable. I also set the number of polygons to 300k on purpose : half the weight of the original model, but with more details ! This is a cast of the real fossil of a Nanotyrannus Lancensis found in Gilmore, Montana, in the Hell Creek formation, in 1946. It is about 65 million years old. Scientists used to think Nanotyrannus Lancensis was a species distinct from the famous T-Rex, but recent discoveries tend to show that a nanotyrannus is actually a young T-Rex.
