The painting is a tronie of a girl wearing an exotic dress, an oriental turban, and an improbably large pearl earring. It has been in the collection of the Mauritshuis in The Hague since 1902.
Being faithful to the original painting while pushing depth beyond the 2D realm, I am interested to bring her to life, as if she is reading the audience’s reaction, wanting to comment but too shy to speak.

This started as anatomy sketch to practice bulkier build and soon after creating this strong sturdy torso I said to myself, hey this would fit as an orc body so i added this “tough guy” looking head. This one started out as a test on virtual horizon on Sketchfab, and as a challenge to test out a somewhat convincing ocean animation with geometry. Note that I am not satisfied with the ocean movement and am still working on it, but I think the sense of distance (8000m) and atmosphere works decently.
As an artwork the thoughts behind is simply to embrace nature, and to accept the notion that the absolute freedom is absolute loneliness.

This is a tribute to the beloved cartoonist Charles M. Schulz (1922-2000) and his classic comic strip: Peanuts (1950-2000).
The specific strip I chose to model and animated after is from June 22, 1970, where the tiny yellow bird Woodstock was named for the first time by Snoopy.
Another tribute of this one is visual storytelling, which successful comic strips have mastered eons ago. So through animation, it is a challenge to capture and to push visual storytelling on this 3D/VR media platform.
My personal reason to do this is to celebrate the upcoming birthday of my biological big sister Hennessy, and my non-biological big brother Eliot. Although they’ve never met each others, yet they were born on the same day, same year, and both are avid fans of Peanuts.

For Murphy, I made him drawing his Auto-9 pistol and takes aim, but does his classic gun spin and holster without firing.
As police brutality and unnecessary killings of innocent people are frequent news in US these days, I do hope the future of law enforcement will always serve public trust, protect the innocence, and uphold the law.
