Maple Samurai. Created for Feudal Japan challenge on ArtStation. 99895 triangles. Four 2k texture sets. The character is not based on any concept. The plan was to create the most realistic samurai armor I could in a given time. Hope I succeeded. Initially I've also wanted to include an environment which tells a small story abut his connection to a maple tree but had no time to create it during the contest. The process consists of modelling a low poly version, from which a copy is made with a very high dense mesh where details are sculpted in, later baked onto its low poly counterpart.
