Wooden coffin of Pharaoh Amenhotep I of the 18th Dynasty in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Egypt. This coffin is the one in which his body was recovered in the Royal Mummy Cache in tomb DB320 in 1881. However, it is a replacement coffin, having been origianlly made for a priest by the name of Djehutymose. The inscription down the front of the coffin calls upon the god Osiris-Wennefer to provide offerings of bread, beer, oxen, fowl, and all good and pure things to Amenhotep I. Created from 284 photographs (Canon EOS Rebel T5i) using Metashape 1.5.4. This piece was probably created during the equivalent Late Archaic time period in the SW USA. Archaic hunter gatherers had not yet made the transition to agriculture, had no written language and no pottery.

I uploaded the sword alone previously and planned to upload its sheath separately, but eventually decided put them together so it can have a complete showcase as a set. Both high res model and all the details made in Zbrush, painted the texture in substance painter. The animal on the sheath at first was just flat shapes with no details on it, and I thought I finished the model. Later on I looked at it again and again, eventually decided I should add more details and to make the animal figures more alive and to give them more characters, since this was a sword made for Paraoh’s battles, it just has to have that spirit. Painting the texture was another challenge since there are just so many details on the original antique. Made this piece with a heart of awe, and it was a great learning experience!

Creation process was focused on reducing the blur and sharpness using deep learning models to improve quality on the source images.
