The alewife has been brewing ale for the household as they prepare for Sir Eustace and Lady Agnes’s return to Caerlaverock. Her ale is made using barley she bought from the monks at Sweetheart Abbey. She talks about Sweetheart and Lady Devorgilla and eludes to how it was named. The alewife would brew and sell ale to the community. The quality of water at the time was so poor that it meant that ale was a safer bet to drink. As the ale went sour very quickly, the alewife would be continually brewing fresh batches to keep her customers happy. This meant that it was a way for women to add additional income to a household. Tomb of Tự Đức (Vietnamese: Lăng Tự Đức), officially Khiêm Mausoleum (Khiêm Lăng, Hán tự: 謙陵), is located in Huế, Vietnam. It is built for the Nguyễn Emperor Tự Đức and took three years to build from 1864–1867. It is divided into a Temple Area and a Tomb Area.
Emperor Tu Duc enjoyed the longest reign of any monarch of the Nguyen dynasty, ruling from 1848-1883. Although he had 104 wives and concubines, he was unable to father a son (possibly he became sterile after contracting smallpox). Il prezioso manufatto bronzeo del XIV secolo, proveniente dalla collezione Luzzetti, appartiene alla tipologia dei lettorili liturgici a forma di aquila documentati, a partire dal tardo Trecento, su supporti autonomi. La presenza di artigli ricurvi ci suggerisce infatti che l’originaria collocazione dell’aquila doveva essere su una sfera, oggi non più esistente, sostituita da un capitello rovesciato di incerta datazione. Grandi e lunghe ali spiegate – con funzione di supporto del libro liturgico – mettono in mostra il bellissimo piumaggio, minutamente descritto con gusto calligrafico, che ricopre tutto il rapace. The mason is in the process of repairing the rear wall of the castle. He’s very industrious and talks about fixing up the castle and recovering the lost stone from the moat. Gargoyles on the castle were carved by the mason and he’s very proud of his work.
The medieval stonemason was a highly skilled craftsman. He served a seven year apprenticeship to learn his craft. Once a fully fledged stonemason, his skills were always in high demand.
