She is Annie, a fin whale found on the shores of Piombino in 1990. The skeleton is more than 19 metres long and it weights around 27 tons. Right in the garden of the Museo di Storia Naturale del Mediterraneo (MUSMED) was built the beautiful Sala del Mare that now hosts Annie and other cetaceans and dioramas. The architectural project was made by architect Giuseppe Milanesi. The external shape of the Sala del Mare recalls the profile of a large cetacean, and inside of it seems to be in the shell of a big wooden ship. I did not expect this one to drag so long as in the beginning I was merely remaking the miniature version.
I have to design the whole thing from the ground up, from the size of the barrel, its bullet all the way to how the magazine can actually insert into the gun.
I stick the design as closely to the miniature as possible and spend most of my time figuring out the mechanic.
4K texture and 2 versions. One slightly wider to look more akin to the miniature.
