Hello everybody.
As part of Sketchfab’s Low Poly Pirates competition I created this scene. I was a big fan of TaleSpin and especially of Don Karnage. If you never heard about him, check out the best of Don Karnage on YouTube: here. However, that is why I decided to create airships.
I had a lot of fun wiht that scene. I made everything by myself. I struggled with the maelstrom. I tried a lot of different styles. I needed around three days to find a satisfiying solution for me. Altogether I worked one week at that scene.
I hope you like it. I made a big flying fish. :)

There are many fascinating aspects to the anatomy in this specimen - features characteristic of very young juveniles, morphology unique to whales, and injuries to the skeleton in this particular individual.
Frozen specimen from the Museums Victoria mammalogy collection (NMV C40064), CT scanned (Siemens Somatom go.UP medical CT) at Monash Biomedical Imaging. Skeleton segmented from CT data using Mimics Research (v. 21.0), with meshes further processed and re-articulated in Blender 2.82. Due to perimortem damage to the skeleton, some elements were digitally repaired and mirrored for this visualisation. Scanning funded by Monash University. This design is way fatter and i tried to add as much weight as i could and get it into the whale theme while still keeping it consistent and somewhat matching with the original plane.
Everything went along swimmingly outside of texturing and animation as those are the two i havent dabbled that much in, especially since this is my first time creating a stylised texture, think it went well though!
This was made for the course “Game Art” in DAE and im quite proud of my work!
We have to make stylised interbellum aircraft and make those in a particular style, feel free to look the assignment up and you will see many other great examples!
