So this is a little experiment I've been contemplating on, inspired by the food assets in Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy 15. I took photographs of an actual meal I cooked, and spliced them in Substance Painter with a few models I specially built from reference. Nasi Lemak is a traditional Indonesian/Malaysian dish, consisting of spiced rice, coconut milk/shavings, a portion of meat (chicken) and fresh prawns, sometimes accompanied by a fried egg. The hardest part was translating the lighting from Substance Painter to Unreal Engine, and I have recreated it as best as I can here in sketchfab. Hi all!
This is a project I’ve been working on for around a week and a half. I was set a project by my University to create a “well” in any style. I’ve always loved how stylized/hand-painted assets look in games such as World of Warcraft, League of Legends etc. So I wanted to take it upon myself to attempt this style. I’m overall happy with the final design, although if I were to spend more time on it, there are a few things I would refine.
