Hi everyone, this is my fanart of Hoshino Ai from Oshi no ko. I made this model to celebrate the anime’s premieres on 12th April 2023.
Something about Ai attracts me, maybe she’s very cheerful, that’s why. Ai is a 16 years old idol and I shall not spoil the story by revealing too much. You guys just have to read the manga or watch the anime to find out.

This prop is a redisgned water gun inspired by firefighters. The design is also remarkably similar to flamethrowers. I was inspired to make it an Overwatch weapon, but realistic. I imagined a character that used a WWII style flamethrower, but modernized of course.
I went a little far with the initial blockout and moving straight into the highres was a lot of cleanup work. I ended up making more fluid straps so the model was more dynamic. I struggled with cleanup when trying to make the game res, but in the end it got where it needed to be. I’m happy with how the floating geometry baked. The textures needed to feel like propane tanks or fire extinguishers. I got some great feedback to fix the contrast and realism, I’m very happy with where this has gone so far. A personal project I started in September that got pushed back due to university work. After finishing the game I knew I had to make something for my portfolio to show praise as I am one of the few people with the controversial opinion that the game is a masterpiece, ultimately becoming my favourite game I’ve ever played. I’m a huge fan of Joel and Ellie and I was very invested in the continuation of their story.
I chose to model the guitar that Joel gives to Ellie as I felt that it was a physical embodiment of their relationship which is my favorite thing about the games. It’s also different to a lot of my other portfolio pieces as I tend to model weapons.
I found this piece quite challenging as the sunburst pattern on the body of the guitar took some time to get right as I had not done too much hand painted texturing within Substance Painter but I am very happy with the results. The model was created in 3DS Max and textured in Substance Painter with textures exported in 2k quality 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 17924 polygons.
