I really love modeling cartoon characters. This time I chose Ursula and her morays, from the Disney movie “The Little Mermaid". Modeled with Zbrush and 3ds max. It only has a simple material based on vertex color. I enjoyed a lot working on this piece, the most difficult part was posing the tentacles, has been a real challenge. Based on “Littlest Tokyo” by glenatron, licensed under CC Attribution-ShareAlike.
This time I wanted to simply enhance the stylised look with some complimentry lighting, and a nice vibrant sunsent seemed to work a treat!
Beyond the basic light setup, I added a background to match my colour scheme and a shadowcatcher to grab those long end of day shadows. Also added a little bit of pink to the emission of the main materials to enhance the feeling of warm reflected light you get at this time of day, then pushed that further in the shadow colours with post-process 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 141802 polygons.

Bronze statue located next to the City Park (Stadspark) of Antwerp (Belgium).
The statue was cast in Paris by F. Barbedienne, from an original stone sculpture by Marcel Bourbier. The piece was part of the French pavillion during the World Fair of 1930 in Antwerp, and was later gifted to the city of Antwerp by the city of Paris. The original stone sculpture has since disappeared (a smaller bronze cast is on display in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nîmes / EDIT: apparently the original is now at Hearst Castle in California!).
This beautiful, innocent scene foreshadows a tragic ending; the girl depicted in the sculpture, Marcelle Battu, was later accused of collabortion with the German occupiers and sentenced to death by the Military Court of Nîmes.
