This model was created by Lara Wischert, current student at Maastricht University/ Media Studies - Digital Cultures.
The bamboo straw is part of the digital collection “21st century time capsule” and stands representative for the modern struggle for sustainability. The plastic straw has become the scapegoat for overconsumption. Even though we produce reusable alternatives, we cannot get plastic pollution under control. The media outcry about plastic straws hurting sea animals has made a great impact on current views on plastic straws.
