The figure of the prophet is represented in a dynamic pose with his arms theatrically outstretched. His head is lowered; the gaze is directed downwards. The artist skillfully carved the arched eyebrows, almond-shaped eyes, straight nose with flared nostrils, open mouth, as well as hair that smoothly frames the man's head. The saint's clothes and drapery are covered with folds, which pass from smooth curves to geometriс planes, repeating the outlines of the figure. The sculpture is performed in the form of an S-shaped silhouette (figura serpentinata), which dominated the Baroque sculpture. The right leg of the man is slightly bent at the knee and put forward. Upper portion of a limestone statue of Thutmose III from Deir el-Bahri displayed in the Cairo Museum. The torso of the statue without the face was found in the early 20th century and now is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The face was found during excavations at Deir el-Bahri by the Polish Expedition in the 1960s and is in the Cairo Museum collections. Casts were made of each poriton of the statue and exchanged between the institutions. Today the original face and cast of the torso can be seen in Cairo and the original torso and cast of the face can be seen in New York.
Created from 113 images (Canon EOS Rebel T7i) using Metashape 1.7.5. Access to the back of the statue was difficult and repairs to the reconstructed mesh were made in Blender 2.92.
