Es wurde aber, wie das westliche – wahrscheinlich portugiesische – Wappen an der Außenseite beweist, für einen europäischen Adligen geschaffen. Als Seefahrer aus Portugal und Spanien in der frühen Neuzeit die fernen Welten erkundeten, standen Objekte aus exotischen, in Europa kaum bekannten Naturalien an den fürstlichen Höfen hierzulande hoch im Kurs. 7 years ago, I scanned this Nanotyrannus : https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/nanotyrannus-lancensis-young-t-rex-7b0967fa27674d959647868686b6717b . However, the model was far from perfect.
I figured I would scan it again for the Agisoft Nature Challenge.
This time, I managed to create a watertight model that should be 3D printable. I also set the number of polygons to 300k on purpose : half the weight of the original model, but with more details !
This is a cast of the real fossil of a Nanotyrannus Lancensis found in Gilmore, Montana, in the Hell Creek formation, in 1946. It is about 65 million years old. Scientists used to think Nanotyrannus Lancensis was a species distinct from the famous T-Rex, but recent discoveries tend to show that a nanotyrannus is actually a young T-Rex.
You might ask yourself why the skull is not symmetrical : this deformation occured during the fossilization process.
