  EMD SW1200 Locomotive 3D Model 2024-05-12
Low poly game ready model of a locomotive designed as a mashup of various EMD SW1200 variants. Painted in a Burlington Route livery (some liberties taken). This is actually a remake of a model that was featured in one of the levels I created for No More Room in Hell, quirky details preserved. At the time I was not able to actually create 3d models properly and found a way to circumvent it by using Propper - an addon that allows one to create a Source Engine model using only the Hammer Editor. I thought this would be a great subject to test my abilities since there is an easy point of comparison with the original model. This is an educational model- it has not been fully optimized for real-time applications. Featuring accurate color data sourced from a handful of historians, along with lettering & striping graciously provided by historian & artist John Ott. For some history, Central Pacific #55 was the first locomotive built from scratch by the Central Pacific in Sacramento, CA, based on the rebuilt C.P. #173, which had been reconstructed from the ground-up following a bad wreck near Alameda. Outshopped in June of 1873, the shop would build 12 of these locomotives in total, and they would pave the way for CP’s innovative designs. One of these 12 locomotives still survives today, V&TRR #18, “Dayton”, residing at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in display condition.
