The Leaders of the Pack statue is a symbol of unity and pride. This is a favorite spot for students to take pictures throughout the year, particularly at graduation. The statues were created for Texas A&M University-Kingsville by alumnus Armando Hinojosa.
Original Artist: Armando Hinojosa is a renowned artist most commonly known for his many sculptures, including the Tejano Monument located on the south lawn of the Texas State Capitol. The upmost care went into crafting this model. As a result it is subdivision ready. The model was unwrapped with efficiency in mind. Both left and right shoes are mostly identical, save for logos and text that cannot be mirrored. At a strip mall across town is this concrete Statue of Liberty. I’ve driven by it for years. I decided to do a quick and dirty model of it. By the time I got to the strip mall, the sun was close to setting and I had to hurry.
As you can see, South Dakota seasons are hard on decorative concrete sculptures like this one. The agragate under the surface of the concrete is starting to show in places where the concrete has worn away. The protective paint is patchy giving moisture more places to penetrate and wear down the concrete.
This model is just the latest generation cast from a prototype I first saw in the 1980s when the Statue of Liberty’s centennial was approaching. Liberty fever was on the rise and someone cashed in by creating this stylized replica.
It has been recreated in aluminum, fiberglass and concrete. It can be found in numerous statuary and garden centers. Like the Boy Scouts copper replica, it is kind of ugly but it grows on you 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 922579 polygons.
