After a long while, here’s my next project. I’ve been quite inspired by the HololiveEN girls so I decided to practice two stony birds at one time… that’s how the saying goes, right?
The figurine took around 40 hours to make, and I made an STL version of the figurine too. For 3D printing in resin. An ancient Egyptian figurine of a woman with bird-like features and ‘puncture’ decoration. Possibly dating to the Middle Kingdom or Second Intermediate Period, these figurines were previously thought to have fertility connotations, although modern scholarship is moving away from this interpretation. Whilst the exact function of these figurines is unclear, they may have had particular apotropaic and healing associations. Many of these figurines are found broken in a way that suggests ritual destruction.
