Fun stylized challenge. Low poly modeling with 3ds max and textured with substance painter. The idea is an island surrouned by an atoll with magical statues that act as wards… or whatever you want to think :D.

My entry for the ‘ Low Poly Fantasy Island - Sketchfab January 2021 Challenge ‘
Used Blender mostly. Zbrush for modelling some details into the models. And because it had to come under 50k, I used the details of the models as Normals with the help of Substance Painter. All the models were textured in Substance Painter. Clouds would have looked better if Sketchfab had Volume Shader; but this [Dithered Opacity] came out to be fine too, I would say š .

About 6 years ago (jul 19th 2016), I published on Sketchfab one of my first project with Blender. I discovered at the same time the anotation function that I found great to tell stories with a simple 3d model. This model was Yoshi Island. A model that has really aged (and is very ugly too :D). That’s why I wanted to update it. All is not perfect but the main thing for me was to see the evolution between these two models.

This model is a concept made to represent a space filled with water that one can relax in. This first year project was to design a stereotomic form and it’s ground keeping in mind material, human experience, as well as atmosphere. I chose to incorporate water in my model and hence designed a form that is submerged within another form full of water. I then decided to continue the pattern of nesting into my ground as well. I chose to use glass in order to create an invisible feel that lets people feel as if they are floating in space. As a person moves up, the ground space is lesser, signifying increasing solitude and focus due to lesser interaction with the outside world. All these elements combined guarantee a more focused, deliberate human experience in the space.
