The agragate under the surface of the concrete is starting to show in places where the concrete has worn away. The protective paint is patchy giving moisture more places to penetrate and wear down the concrete.
This model is just the latest generation cast from a prototype I first saw in the 1980s when the Statue of Liberty’s centennial was approaching. Liberty fever was on the rise and someone cashed in by creating this stylized replica.
