Hi,everyone.I am a junior in China. This is my first time to participate in the competition of substance. It happens that the time of this competition is just during the Spring Festival in China. So, I decided to take the traditional Chinese Spring Festival culture as the title and put on new clothes for our meetmat2. All texture making, including rendering, is done by me independently in substance painter, and some alpha is processed through PS. Red and gold are auspicious symbols in China. The mouse pattern on the clothes represents the year of the rat this year. The traditional characters on the head mean to recruit money and treasure. The pocket is called “Li Shi”. In the Spring Festival, we will all receive “Lishi” from our elders, which contains some money, which is also a good blessing. I refer to the image of Chinese drum for the head making style. Because in some areas, drumming is also a blessing form of Spring Festival. This was created as part of Ashleigh Warners’ ‘Creating Stylized Game Assets’ course available through CGMA. I completed my first draft last November, but I went back over it and made as many changes as possible to get it to a place I felt confident in sharing.
This is MEEPO, or the Mega Express Espresso Processing Operator 3000. The initial idea was to have this retro-futuristic coffee-station diorama that sold a particular kind of mundane story (even if it was in a sort of space-setting).
Either way, this is my first fully-completed hand-painted project and I couldn’t be happier! It was created through a mix of Blender, 3Ds Max, 3D Coat, Substance Painter and Photoshop!
