A few years ago I was asked by PK (aka King Deluxe) to contribute something to his VRChat world called The Land of Ooo, which was based on the cartoon TV series Adventure Time. For reasons I still can’t quite fathom I volunteered to take on creating Finn and Jake’s entire Tree Fort inside and out!
I completed the model but unfortunately other work commitments at the time meant I wasn’t able to texture it, so it was left up to other artists to finish it off. Process: 1 layer, 1 brush (mostly) and a lot of colour picking. This project really helped to teach me how to loosen up when painting
as well as how to choose good colours. I tried to stay as close as possible to the original concept, but I did deviate when
I found interesting shapes during the painting process and wanted to keep them. No AO bake or base, just started
really messy to capture all the hue variations and then slowly sculpted in the shapes :)
