  M4 Sherman Track 3D Model 2023-11-04
One of a couple of coils of worn continuous track, from some variant of the US Sherman tank. The earliest continuous track was patented in 1846 as an aid for steam powered traction engines, and was used on gun carriages in the Crimean War. The propulsion system gained popularity at the turn of the century, particularly under the Caterpiller Tractor Company, and was swiftly adopted by armoured fighting vehicles alongside the invention of the tank in the First World War. Based on photographs, I believe this section to be from a late model Sherman, possibly even the M-50 ‘Super' Sherman variant used by Israel from the 1950's. The split-section, steel exterior plates don't seem to appear on earlier models or in European theatres, but let me know if you're a tank nerd and I've got that wrong. A 3d model based on a museum example of a sten like submachinegun in the Polish military museum in Warsaw, the submachinegun or “SMG” was made by Edward Sitek a member of the Polish resistance during the Nazi occupation of Poland in ww2 most likely by hand and out of scrap metal with minimal tools. The design of the submachinegun is most likely based on the famous British Sten gun mixed with the Polish Mors smg, there is also from the looks of it some Russian ppsh 41 influence of the gun as the what could be a safety, fire selector or both look fairly similar to the ppsh 41s fire selector.
