Made a separate vanilla minecraft build using similar technique on making trees and plants from my previous cambodian build. Wanted to share this to show how detailed forest can be without using any resourcepacks and mods.
Used a lot of floating / combined plants for detailing. And also some biome coloring for green color variations (doesn’t show on this preview, but ingame)

In terms of materials, I recommend the AO map to be around 0.5 to cover up some imperfections when the AO map is baked. And make it not look very dark in deep holes. Just another weird model, this time mix between ent and imp, that for some time I had in my folder under codename Verto and just waited to get rigged. Idea was to make tad smaller ent that would act like imp in forest but would not be so weak as most of folklore show them, something similar to some of Japanse Oni demons.
