Wooden trunk modeled and sculpted in Blender, textured in Substance Painter. Models were made with game engine performance in mind, so a lot of geometry is optimised for lower poly count. Mesh consists of quads and triangles. For better texture quality, mesh has been divided into two UV maps, each with its own material assigned. Textures included: base_color, roughness, metallic, height, normal (OpenGL). All textures are in 2K format, so if you need a lower resolution you can scale them in any photo editing software with minimal quality loss. Materials are assigned, just load in the textures and you are ready to go. Mesh is divided into three parts, box, lid, and lock. Most of the portals I have seen are either stone or metal, so I wanted to create a stylised wooden, rustic Portal with some wood paint dye that has faded edges. Something that you may find in a medieval fantasy or the witcher.
I used blender to create the model and substance painter to texture it.
Most of the model is texture painted, aside from the painting that I stencilled around the base and there are some wood fibres that are procedurally generated. I created a particle system in blender and use a vertex force to get them to rotate. Blender doesn’t have a built in way to export animated particles, so I found a script online that I ran in Blender to convert the particle system to an animated mesh.
