  Panem et circensis 3D Model 2024-03-31
After the discovery of the universally unique gladiator school, measurements were taken around the excavated amphitheater of the civil town and the subsequent results revealed an entire city area complete with the necessary infrastructure for the gladiatorial games. The route to the spectacles led the people through the city gates past taverns (tabernae), souvenir shops and food vendors (thermopolia), where street merchants offered their goods for sale and invited the public to linger. Behind one of the taverns, the LBI ArchPro specialists discovered a storage building (horreum) and a large oven, where bread was baked for up to 13,000 spectators. The wine and other foodstuffs were stored in underground cellars. Everyday life in Pontes, Roman Staines; a piece of painted wall plaster. Some people in Roman Staines did rather well out of selling provisions to passing travellers; their houses had tiled roofs, Opus Signinum (concrete) floors, hypocaust flue tiles (under floor heating), window glass and painted walls. This is one of many fragments of painted wall plaster found in Staines. If you look carefully you can see a groove on the back where the slaked lime/sand/aggregate plaster was attached to the wooden ‘wattle’ frame of the wall, and a thin fine smooth layer of crushed marble which is applied to the outer surface to provide a painting surface. Analysis of samples from Staines by the University of Leicester showed our painted plaster to be painted ‘buon fresco’, or when the plaster was still wet, meaning plastering and painting were completed in panels of one days work before the plaster dried. În anul 1955, în cariera Fabricii de Ciment de la Medgidia, a fost descoperită o piesă unică în lumea tracică și scitică: o sabie-emblemă, din bronz, în formă de akinakes, care se aplica, probabil, pe un monument comemorativ sau pe sarcofacul ori pe zidul camerei funerare a unei căpetenii militare. Spadă scurtă (akinakes de tip Kelermes, cu mâner în forma literei „T” și garda în formă de inimă) din bronz, turnată dintr-o singură bucată, împreună cu teaca. The Roman villa at the Weilberg was discovered in 1981 during the land consolidation. The estate from the 2.–4. Century is particularly known for the Roman wine press. The property consisted of a 104m long mansion (later extended to 150m), a roman bath, a cemetery and numerous outbuildings. The complex was destroyed in the middle of the 4th Century probably by the Alemanni. Today, the wine press and parts of the mansion are covered by protective shelters.
