This is the first game asset I have developed and worked on through the whole process. In August, 2017 I have joined French Foreign legion modding discord as a 3d artist, to work on the development of mods for Squad (the game). The first assignment I took over was the mortar. The process took a bit longer ( month or so), since I have a full time job and limited time to work on my solo projects. The process started with research and gathering of all the references possible. Next step was to block out the major parts and start working on the high poly model. The biggest problem was to figure out how the mortar actually works, shoots, moves and folds. After completing the high poly I started modeling the low poly. Next step was to unwrap the whole thing and get it ready for painting. After initial painting was finished I imported everything to Unreal Engine to see how everything looks in the Squad itself. A large half destroyed war machine only barely clinging onto a street lamp for balance. Battered and barely repaired it slowly patrols the streets.
So this one took me way too long. I had the original Idea for it back in November and started working on it then, but then my bachelor’s thesis paper got in the way and I had to put it aside. It was originally going to be a realistic highpoly model, but my PC couldn’t handle it, I tried the last weeks to fix it in some way, but seeing how my software student-licences are probably gone soon I took the lowpoly and made it very stylised. I do like how it turned out.

This was a dieselpunk inspired bi-plane I created for a game concept/prototype a few years back.
It started out as a low poly model but was never finished. To finally finish it I decided to add lots of new detail as well as completely re-texture it, adding additional maps that our game engine didn’t support at the time (like normal maps).
It includes a fully modelled cockpit (which would have been interactive had the game ever been made), and a detailed rotary engine; both of which have their own set of texture maps so will be easy to reuse in other projects.
Included in the optional download are all uncompressed texture maps in PNG format (diffuse, AO, roughness, metallic, and normal), as well as quadrangular and triangulated versions of the mesh.
