Photogrammetry is a technique used to create 3D models from a series of overlapping photographs. These photographs are taken from different angles around the object. By analyzing the common points in these images, software can triangulate the exact 3D position of each point on the object’s surface, allowing for the creation of an accurate 3D model. This method is widely used in various fields such as archaeology, architecture, and, as in your case, for creating 3D models .
When using photogrammetry to model an object, certain shadows and lighting effects are captured within the texture of the object. The textures from the photos retain the shadows and lighting information present when the photographs were taken.

Cross-polarization method is used to get rid of specular lights. The object is also scanned from below to capture it from every side. Afterwards the scan is optimized with retopology work and uv-unwrapping to make it game ready.
