In contemporary media, the Jiu Huan Dao ranks as the most frequently shown Chinese broadsword. It is a DaDao sword, but it’s called the Nine Ring Great Broadsword because of the nine rings down the back of the blade and is most often presented as a massive weapon.
The Jiuhuandao is a single-edged sword with a recurved double-edged blade tip for thrusting, but it is a weapon best suited for slicing and cutting due to its heft and flexibility. Some who believe this theory assert that the energy expended by the swinging blade is temporarily stored in the loose rings and released when the sword makes contact with its intended target.
Moreover, these rings were likely utilized to keep the blade from slipping off of adversary blades and to produce a sound to disrupt the opponent. Miao Dao are rather late comers to the family of Chinese swords. They didn’t appear until the fall of Qing dynasty (1911). Due to their massive sizes, they often get compared to western two handed swords and Japanese Ōdachi. Many of them feature pipe-back design （丁背） with very thick spines and relatively thin blades to significantly reduce weight. Such design is very close to the British 1821 cavalry/infantry sabre which managed to significantly lengthened the blade under the same benefit of weight reduction. This particular model is over 150cm long and weighs only about 1300g witha POB of 11cm!
Two handed swords came and gone in Chinese history. Another period where they got significant uses was the Ming dynasty, famously used in the army of General Qi, Jiguang, who wrote treatises and admit being inspired by Japanese Shinkage-ryū. Miao Dao are similar to those used in the Ming dynasty.

I couldn’t find out what kind of drill it was, but I do know it was produced in West Germany so probably during the Cold War era., which explains why I can’t find it BUT if you find it let me know!!
