Independence Monument is a victory column located on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) in Kyiv and is commemorated to the Independence of Ukraine.[1] Stylistically it presents a mix of Ukrainian Baroque and Empire style. The monument was built in a compositional center of the square to the 10th Anniversary of the independence of Ukraine in 2001. The monument itself is a column with a figurine of a woman (Berehynia) with guelder-rose branch in her arms. The height of the monument is 61 m (200 ft).[2] As a model of the Berehynia statue, the author Anatoliy Kushch chose his daughter, American artist Christina Katrakis. The statue is made of a cast bronze and weighs about 20 tons. The column is faced with white Italian marble that stands on a pedestal in the form of a Christian temple of Ukrainian Baroque. This lime plaster block with a bilingual funerary inscription was discovered in 2015, reused inside an underground tomb chamber. Made of 140 pictures with ReCap pro from AutoDesk. “This is (?) the memorial of ?Amud,son of Gurr, which his son ?Amud,son of ?Amud, built over him year 90 (or 97).” “Memorial and tomb of ?Amud,son of Gurr, son of ?Ali,inspector of the king of Oman, which built over him his son ?Amud,son of ?Amud,son of Gurr, inspector of the [king of Oman…]” It was probably part of the facade of the funerary monument on top of the tomb. The 5 lines of the central panel are written in monumental South Arabian script; the text along the rim repeats most of it in Aramaic and adds a date. 90 or possibly 97 of the Seleucid Era places the construction of the tomb in either 222/221 or 215/214 BCE. Trethevy Quoit (Cornish: Koyt Tredhewi)[1] is a well-preserved megalithic structure between St Cleer and Darite in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It is known locally as “the giant’s house”.[2] Standing 9 feet (2.7 m) high, it consists of five standing stones capped by a large slab and was added to the Heritage At Risk register in 2017. Like other portal structures of this type, Trethevy Quoit was originally covered by a mound. The remnants of this suggest a diameter of 6.5 metres (21 ft). The remaining seven stones and the 3.7-metre (12 ft) long and 10.5-ton cover slab were inside the mound. At the upper end of the cover slab is a natural hole, which may have been used for astronomical observation. The group of horizontal stones is composed of a fallen back wall, two overlapping side wall stones, a front stone and a somewhat remote flanking stone.
