This is my second assignment of Second Year Game Art @ De Montfort University. The brief was to create a ‘Bounty Hunter’ character bust with a budget of 18,000 tris. The aim was to create a semi-realistic look by using Zbrush for a more detailed mesh, then retop in 3DS Max and texuture in Substance Painter/Designer. Since our deadline isn’t until the end of the year, I haven’t rendered in UE4 for the hand-in just yet and have used Marmoset Toolbag. I really enjoyed this project - it was a pretty big learning curve for just a few weeks project but I learned a lot of new techniques and had fun bringing my own bounty hunter concept to life! My inspiration was the Witcher 3, but with a bit of stylisation mixed in. In this asset, I bring a bus body model that was very popular in Brazil and in some Latin American countries in the 70s.
The production of this model bodywork started in 1971 and ended in 1975 (its successor Marcopolo III went into production at the end of 74).
For me this model of bus represents a lot, especially with the painting of this company, TransCampos, a local company (now extinct) that connected two small towns in the interior of my state.
Me, my brother and my mother sometimes traveled on this exact model of bus, the route was always a dirt road (often in poor condition), either in one direction to go near the case of my maternal grandparents, or else , in the other direction to the largest city in the region, Pelotas (Rio Grande do Sul).
