Samopal vzor 58 : The vz. 58 (or Sa vz. 58) is a 7.62×39mm assault rifle designed and manufactured in Czechoslovakia and accepted into service in the late 1950s. I have made both versions. VZ.58P - That's the version with the fixed wooden stock. VZ.58V - That's a version with foldable metal stock for paratroopers. The bayonet is also included. I took more time with this project. I studied a lot of materials to give it the most realistic look. I watched so many references to not forget to model any part or detail. The model includes many separate parts for animation that are fully modeled. I created this model based on references from the actual movie props and some amazingly faithful replicas.
The geometry is relatively light weight for use in game engines. The counter animation is geometry based, so it can be used dynamically and adressed by code.
Complete with 4K PBR textures.
My motivation for this piece came from rewatching the Aliens movies. I took this as an opportunity to learn Substance Painter and figure out how to bake maps for a more complex model like this.
It’s also always interesting to learn a few things about design in general and about the object you’re researching in specific.
When researching references it helped me to find out that parts of this design are based on real life rifles like the “M1A1 Thompson” and the “Spas 12” shotgun 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 7959 polygons.
