“The Atalan Classic Series: Snub Class. Now just a relic of bygone days and championships lost to the ages. She's reliable as hell though, pretty sure this one is held together by rust and a little T.L.C." I think its safe to say that she's finally done. Began as an asset for a group project which never got off the drawing board. The idea was for a racing vehicle which moves at high speeds over water. I looked at retro and classic car and plane designs to get the initial concept done, and the design process snowballed into what you see here. Specular and Normals are a little rushed but they do the job. Geometry created in 3DS Max. This concept incorporates all that I love about Formula 1 cars. A muscular chassis, bold apperance and a lot of features that cater to my personal taste. The concept incorporates parts of the 2007/08 cars aesthetics while its proportions are oriented along the lines of the cars from 2017 onwards. The cars front is slightly exaggerated to pull visual focus towards the bulky forms. Wings and winglets across the chassis have a modern, almost futuristic, form-language.
The concept itself was spatially sketched with Blenders amazing Grease-Pencil. The modeling was also done in Blender “atop” the sketch.
All in all a joyful experience to create my first F1 freeform concept.
