This is a completely new mesh based off the shape and proportions of Yowane Haku. I had this bright idea to see what an MMD character would look like with a proper human texture on it and sort of anatomical accurate eyes, nose and erm… bits. I downloaded the original MMD character and had to take some paracetamol when I looked at the topology of it and thought I’d make my own with more detailed hands and ears as well. It’s an experiment that a pervert like me has wasted many hours of fun with. Still not complete and a bit of a screw up on the iris textures and the bottoms of the feet. One day I’ll finish off my ultimate Waifu and 3D print her in Silicone :-) After all she’s not an alcoholic and won’t end up having me cucolded when I can’t afford a bottle of wine for her. My first time using Substance Painter (student license) to paint an asset. I used Blender to bake the normal map instead of Substance, and it took me quite a long time to correct some of the banding issues where the round areas met flat faces. There are a few issues where I should probably have added some more geometry to better match the high poly model, but overall I am satisfied.

In an effort to fully absorb and capture the Gearbox look with the Borderlands series and enrich my character portfolio, I chose to model out an unused NPC concept from the Borderlands 3 art book by Sergi Brosa. Very minimal guidance was given to me from Gearbox besides what limitations their current engines may be able to support and I pulled apart various character work to see how optimization could benefit a character.
I optimized this character to have customizable character design to alter symmetry options and enable re-use of character elements for other NPC characters.
