This is my fourth time joining the Artstation Challenge, and I still learn as much as the previous times. The real challenge is accepting that not everything will be perfect. Everyone can make a perfect model, given enough time, but the time-limit here gives you the perfect opportunity to learn how to prioritize. Of course there are lots of things to improve, but for me it’s mostly the enjoyment of these two months that I find important.

This is my second assignment of Second Year Game Art @ De Montfort University. The brief was to create a ‘Bounty Hunter’ character bust with a budget of 18,000 tris. The aim was to create a semi-realistic look by using Zbrush for a more detailed mesh, then retop in 3DS Max and texuture in Substance Painter/Designer. Since our deadline isn’t until the end of the year, I haven’t rendered in UE4 for the hand-in just yet and have used Marmoset Toolbag. I really enjoyed this project - it was a pretty big learning curve for just a few weeks project but I learned a lot of new techniques and had fun bringing my own bounty hunter concept to life! My inspiration was the Witcher 3, but with a bit of stylisation mixed in. The model is rigged, textured and includes a short animation of the mushroom exploring its surroundings
The file incldues one where all the mesh is joined to one object and is unrigged. This due to a bug with Sketchfab. The other will not appear on the Sketchfab 3D veiwer. Despite this, the model works great!
