This is an asset I made for a game project in development that I got permission to upload. It's definitely different than other projects I've done, but that was my favorite part about it! The nest base was blocked out in Maya, brought into Zbrush to get the secondary sand shapes around the outside, and retopologized back in Maya. It was then baked and textured in Substance Painter. It was really nice getting consistent feedback from my art director on how to push the details on an environment piece. Small diorama scene made for a school assignment. The theme I chose was “Forest Loner”, and I thought it would be interesting to create a house that looked like it was made by hand from local materials.
I’ve always been curious about tileable textures, and decided to try my hand at creating a few to be used in the scene. I created a wood and metal trim texture which was used in the texturing of the shed, the house, the water tower and the electrical poles. I also made a texture sheet for the metal roofing and used it to also texture the small electrical conductors on the electrical poles.
