Juma Mosque is situated in the center of the village of Kala Koreysh in Dagestan, Russia, next to the family cemetery of the Utsmis, feudal rulers of Kaitag. The mosque’s prayer hall is divided by rows of pillars into three naves. And the first aisle from the entrance is elevated in comparison with the other two by 50 centimeters - the relief slope is used. The prayer hall is slightly extended from west to east. Its dimensions are 12,2 by 10,2 meters, the thickness of the walls is about 50 centimeters. In the center of the hall there is a prayer niche - mihrab - that shows to the praying person the direction to the south, to Mecca.
The mosque is laid out of big and carefully processed blocks. The material is local stone - shell rock. The masonry is dry and the stones are very precisely fitted. The technique of stone processing is high. A warp-weighted loom is a vertical frame loom where the warp yarns are suspended and stretched by loom weights. The width of the frame defines the width of the woven fabric, which is wound on the top horizontal beam.
Around 1000, this weaving typically took place in sunken huts (Grübenhauser) which could be heated during winter. The problem with current reconstructions is that there is very little light in such a sunken hut while weaving is a precise activity that does require sufficient light. We have solved this somewhat by adding an open roof to make the smoke of the fire disappear but also to provide more incoming light.

The exact cause of the crash is still in debate - it is located near the runway with the engines around 80m from the wreck. The debate is around whether it encountered some kind of mechanical issues just after take-off and crashed while attempting to turn back or whether it was on the way back and the engines skimmed along the water surface on impact.

This is my first wreck project. It took 2 dives, 1333 shots taken with a 15mm fisheye lens.
