Greek Trireme
A Trireme is an ancient warship used by Phoenicians, ancient Greeks and Romans. The trireme has three rows of oars and a bronze ram used to damage other ships in naval battles. This model is mainly based on the Olympias, a reconstruction made in the 80’s.
This kind of boat was seen in video games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and numerous peplum movies.
Note : If the general aspect of the boat is faithful to reality, the accuracy of the architecture of the boat (ropes, some beams etc.) is not guaranteed at 100%.

A capstan was used to hoist a cannon up the slopes of the walls of a fortress. Typically, a 24 pound cannon weights 3000 kg and at least 4 men were needed to get the cannon up the slope. The design of the capstan is taken from “Mémoires d’artillerie” by Surirey de Saint Remy, the French “lieutenant du Grand-Maître d’artillerie de France” and adapted for technical inconsistencies. The image below shows the use of such a capstan in the fortress of Lillo in 1640 (the virtual reconstruction is documented in this blog - in Dutch)

Gunpowder was stored in barrels in a special gunpowder magazine. Just like wine, the barrels had to be turned regularly to avoid the gunpowder stuck together. When used in battle, only a few barrels would be transported to the gun batteries, and gunpowder would be transported to the guns in leather buckets, all for safety reasons, see volume 1 of the “Mémoires d’artillerie” by Surirey de Saint Remy (BnF).
The gunpowder magazine is also surrounded by water and by wooden posts, as additional security measures.

A cannon was made in such a way that it was nearly in balance around the wheel axis. This means that one man could lift a cannon and attach it to a horse-drawn front carriage to transport the cannon. As a 24-pound cannon weighs about 3000 kg, this works well on flat terrain. Getting the cannon up the walls was done with a capstan and a lot of man-power. Volume 3 of the Memores d’artillerie by Surirey de Saint-Remy describes it all in detail.
