Various variations are used by the German army. In addition, many EU countries other than the UK and France also prefer this tank. In November 2005, Turkey signed an agreement with Germany to purchase 298 Leopard 2A4 tanks. A total of 354 second-hand Leopard 2s were purchased, including 298 in the first package and 56 in the second package. 15 of them are used as spare parts.
