Although most shoppers never pause to examine the surrounding buildings, the Meir shopping street in Antwerp exhibits some of the most awe-inspiring architecture the city has to offer. This 3D scan shows the main entrance to the Neoclassical Stadsfeestzaal, which was originally inaugurated as a banquet and exhibition hall in the early 20th century. If anything the building's interior is even more glamorous than its exterior, and my grandmother has fond memories of the formal balls that used to take place here. Since 1983 the building is classified as a protected monument. After a devastating fire in 2000 the building was beautifully renovated and is now used as a shopping center.
