The provenance of this coffin is uncertain, but experts believe it to have been produced at el-Hibeh in Middle Egypt, sometime between 664 and 330 BCE. It has several unique iconographical features that allow experts to determine its origin and relative date. The names on the coffin are a little bit difficult to translate because of the way the glyphs are stacked together, and because the filiation of the deceased is expressed as it would be in Demotic instead of Middle Egyptian. In fact, there is a final glyph on the name of the coffin’s owner that experts are still trying to figure out, so the rendering of her name as Tadinanefer is provisional. Her father’s name is likely Pakhered. Her mother is Ireteru, which is a common name for men and women during the Saite period and later. None of them have any titles. The Great Temple at Abu Simbel, which took about twenty years to build, was completed around year 24 of the reign of Ramesses the Great (which corresponds to 1265 BC). It was dedicated to the gods Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah, as well as to the deified Ramesses himself. It is generally considered the grandest and most beautiful of the temples commissioned during the reign of Ramesses II, and one of the most beautiful in Egypt.
With the passage of time, the temples fell into disuse and eventually became covered by sand. By the 6th century BC, the sand already covered the statues of the main temple up to their knees. The temple was forgotten until 1813, when Swiss researcher Johann Ludwig Burckhardt found the top frieze of the main temple. Burckhardt talked about his discovery with Italian explorer Giovanni Belzoni, who travelled to the site, but was unable to dig out an entry to the temple. This is a modular enviroment scene that was created for my second assessment at AIE where we needed to create six+ objects to build a modular scene and texture it. I tried to achieve a wow/diablo feel to my scene in a PBR workflow.
Here is the desciption I wrote for the scene at the begining of the saaseesment:
An old and forgotten crypt, a shaft of moonlight coming from a hole in the ceiling falls upon a large stone coffin at the back of the room up a small set of stairs. The coffin has a banner lying on top of it as if marking a hero or a king, down the stairs is a larger room with a carpets running across the room. On some of the walls there is a arched inset with a candles and a plaque with some writing on it that cant be read correctly due to age and erosion.
