This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects I’ve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt weren’t my best.
I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born!
Now for this scene, I did something I don’t often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldn’t get anything that looked “grass” you know?
I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future. The version to the right has a single 1024x1024 texture while the Left is the 4096x4096 Version. The 1024x1024 version suffers a little bit due to sketchfab texture compression but should look cleaner in your target engine if compression quality is set to high or none.
For correct rotations in Unity engine you might need to tick the “Bake axis conversion” import option when importing the FBX.
